When is the last time you optimized your product listing?
A day? A week? A month? A year? Or Never?
What does “optimize your product listing” even mean?
You’re about to learn that and even more in today’s exciting article.
I want to start training you on a new concept called the “Feedback Loop”.
The Feedback Loop helps you implement a system for optimizing your product listing.
To optimize your product listing means to enhance or make better what you’ve got going.
Specifically, your images, title, bullet points, description and backend search terms.
You want to get in the habit of using this system to optimize your listing at least once every business quarter.
The goal with optimization is to add more relevant, benefit rich content to your listing based on feedback from keyword trends, sales, and reviews.
By doing this you can increase your conversion rate, drive more paid and organic traffic, make more sales and have happier customers.
There are 5 key areas we’ll pull information from to optimize the listings.
1. Seller Feedback
2. Product Reviews
3. Search Term Reports
4. Keyword Tools
5. Competitor Listings
You’ll be compiling the information you find in a data base to apply to your product listings.
Take note of what people are saying in your seller feedback and product reviews.
What are people using the product for?
What do they like or dislike about the product?
Use this information to sell your product more clearly.
If you see recurring patterns of issues find a way to highlight and address those better in your listing.
Sometimes you may even find there are issues at the manufacture level of your product that you didn’t know about.
Use your customer feedback and product reviews to improve your product.
Then watch as your product review ratings increase and orders go up.
Use your search term report to discover how people have been searching for and buying your products.
Use keyword tools to find new search behavior and patterns to capitalize on.
Build a link tree of competitor product listings and stay up-to-date on what they are doing.
Once you have gathered enough information, prepare to make changes.
Start at the keyword level.
Analyze your keyword data across the board.
Do you see any new keywords?
Which keywords have the most clicks and sales?
Are there new trending long tail keywords?
How are your rank positions for keywords currently?
Have competitors optimized for new keyword placements?
Just by studying the data, you’ll uncover new information and trends you’ve never seen before.
Now, based on what you find it’s time to start planning your optimizations.
Your focus should be to uncover new benefits of why people are buying your product.
Then you’ll use the info you found to fill in the gaps on your listing.
So we’ll start with images.
Based on the data you discovered did you get more clarity on why people are buying your product and what they are using it for?
You can use this information to design a new lifestyle or info-graphic image.
Reach out and grab the consumer by the throat with your new lifestyle and info-graphic images.
Make your listing be a visual representation of the keywords consumers are using to search for and find your listing.
Next, title, bullet points, description
Use your search term report and keyword ranking reports to determine your most relevant money making keywords.
Look for keywords you’ve made sales on and the ones you are climbing the rankings for.
Take those keywords and put them in the beginning of your title, bullet points, and product description.
Amazon gives the most weight and rank juice to keywords at the font of your listing.
By moving these keywords around and placing them in-front, you tell Amazon your listing is more relevant for those keywords.
After making the changes, as you continue to make sales your product will rank faster for those keywords.
During this whole process, really focus on the benefits of your product.
Look for benefits within long tail keyword phrases and build upon those benefits in your title, bullet points, and description.
Taking the time to optimize your product listing at least once per business quarter is absolutely crucial to the success of your Amazon business.
If you don’t have the time to do this yourself, it is well worth it to hire someone to do it for you.
